AM I ELIGIBLE TO COMPETE?
Contestants must have residency in the state in which they compete for 6 months prior to competing in their first local pageant. Residency is defined as the primary address where you physically live. You may be asked to present proof of residency of you have recently moved.
To compete in a local program you must:
Be at least 13 by the first day of the Miss Delaware’s Outstanding Teen Competition
Be no older than 17 years of age on July 31, 2019 unless you have not graduated from high school by July 31, 2019 and are 18 years of age. For the avoidance of doubt, 13 to 17 year old high school graduates, as well as 18 year old non-graduates as of July 31, 2019, compete at the Teen level and not the Miss level
Be a US citizen
Live or attend school full time in Delaware for at least the last six months prior to the competition
Be in reasonably good health
Be able to meet the commitment and responsibilities as set forth by the local and state programs
Be able to participate in the Miss Delaware’s Outstanding Teen competition (Late Spring/Summer 2020), and should you win the state title, be able travel to Orlando, Florida end of July or early August 2020 for the Miss America's Outstanding Teen competition.
WHAT DOES MISS DELAWARE’S OUTSTANDING TEEN DO?
Miss Delaware’s Outstanding Teen has many roles during her year of service. She represents her State Organization, the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Organization, the young women she competed with, and all young people her age, as well as promoting her chosen Platform Issue and acting as an ambassador for the official National Platform of the MAOTeen Program, the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
Miss Delaware’s Outstanding Teen may be called upon to appear at a variety of functions throughout her state, where she will be asked to speak, possibly perform her talent, and interact with people of all ages. She sets an example of someone who has passion and initiative regarding her personal platform.
WHAT'S THE BENEFIT OF COMPETING?
Alumna of the local and state competitions have gone on to become leaders in their field. Whether or not you win a title, the experience and camaraderie propel many young women to success.
IF I DON'T WIN, CAN I STILL EARN SCHOLARSHIPS?
Yes! There are many scholarships offered at both local and state level competitions!
